Who is RUA?

Formed in 2002, the Road Users’ Alliance provides a voice for all of us who count on the roads to get from A to B.

RUA members believe that we need a substantial improvement in the UK’s network of roads, footways and cycle paths, so that people and goods can travel freely without getting caught in unnecessary jams. We support improved public transport systems and want a better rail service but not at the expense of the road network. We just want a reasonable deal.

Decades of underfunding and a lack of strategic vision have left the UK with an incomplete, over-stressed road network on the brink of gridlock.

Congestion has become a daily frustration, harming our competitiveness, ruining our quality of life, wasting time and money and polluting the environment.

It’s not good enough.

RUA presents the facts on funding in our annual publication, Road File. Road users pay 10 times more to the Treasury than the Government returns in improving the road network. It’s time for a fairer deal.

Membership is now open to individuals who would like to add their voice to RUA’s campaign.

Join us if you think it’s time to get real about road transport.
